about

Songs of Queen Anne, Songs of Japan is a collection of songs recorded in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle in a loaned home studio. The pieces were written in Queen Anne as well as in the greater Seattle area suburbs, the eastern parts of Washington State, and during long, late, fall and winter nights- cozy and indoors- protected from the deep white snow of Hokkaido, Japan. Yes, they are personal stories of living and travel and even projections of what ifs and situations that could be as well as ones that were. There is love and there are lost ghosts of love. After fronting a loud alternative groove rock band, when it came time to make this record, I wanted to make a four o'clock in the morning album, mostly quiet and truthful to the human experience and in keeping with the core texture of how some of these songs were written. The album was mastered in Hollywood, California by the gracious use of another home studio. Included in the new running order of songs are three b-sides from the same recording sessions not on the original album release. Original release date without additional tracks was April 17, 2005.
